After burning through most of LA’s addiction treatment centers, Ben Shirley’s friends dumped him on the steps of The Midnight Mission in Skid Row. Shirley had played bass in a late 90’s rock band before drugs and alcohol destroyed his life. He turned back to music during his hard fought recovery at The Mission. But instead of returning to his rock 'n' roll roots, Shirley decided to delve into classical music. This story follows Shirley’s journey as he composes his first orchestral piece with the non-profit Street Symphony.
