Residents of Tonopah, Nevada have been facing a crisis since their only hospital closed in 2015. The nearest emergency room is now one hundred miles away. The closure has imperiled the lives of central Nevadans and placed a heavy burden on the volunteer Emergency Medical Services, increasing call times from thirty minutes to five hours. This story follows EMS volunteer Dawn Gudmunson as she fights to provide critical life saving medical support to her rural community.
